GitHub Toolkit
The GitHub toolkit connects Arcade to GitHub, enabling LLM-powered agents to read and write across repositories, pull requests, issues, projects, and user activity using the authenticated user's identity.
Capabilities
- Repository & file management: Create branches, create or overwrite files with explicit mode control, update specific line ranges, fetch file contents (with line-range slicing), list org repos, retrieve repo details, and track repository activity history.
- Pull requests & code review: Open, update, merge, and inspect PRs; manage reviewers and labels with fuzzy matching; post review comments (line-level or file-level, diff-aware), reply to threads, resolve/unresolve conversations, and submit full reviews.
- Issues & projects: Create, update, list, and comment on issues; add issues to Projects V2; list, search, and filter project items; inspect project fields including select/iteration options.
- Search & discovery: Search code across authorized scope with inline match fragments; fuzzy-search accessible repos; list collaborators at configurable detail levels; list and manage labels.
- User & activity context: Retrieve the authenticated user's profile, orgs, and teams; surface open PRs/issues, recent activity (authored, reviewed, merged, committed), and the review workload queue.
- Starring & social signals: Star or un-star repos, count stargazers, and list individual stargazers (requires collaborator/admin access for the listing endpoint).
OAuth
This toolkit authenticates via OAuth 2.0 using the GitHub provider. See the Arcade GitHub auth provider docs for setup instructions, required app configuration, and supported scopes.
Secrets
GITHUB_SERVER_URL — Overrides the default GitHub API base URL. This is intended for use with GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) deployments, where the API is hosted at a custom domain (e.g., https://github.your-company.com). To obtain the correct value, confirm your organization's GHES hostname with your GitHub Enterprise administrator. For standard GitHub.com usage this secret is not required. See GitHub Enterprise Server REST API docs for details on the expected URL format.

IMPORTANT: Line numbers must be part of the diff (changed lines only).
GitHub's API requires line numbers that exist in the pull request diff, not just any line
in the file. If the line wasn't changed in the PR, the comment will fail with 422 error.
Line comments require start_line and end_line. When subject_type is omitted, providing either
line parameter selects a line comment; otherwise the comment applies to the whole file.
File comments cannot include line-specific parameters.
If the commit_id is not provided, the latest commit SHA from the PR will be used.
